Irish Birds
 
I have given each bird its Irish name. I’ve chosen four birds that I love and that are commonly seen in the Irish countryside and on my bird table here in Ballivor.
Lasair Choille or Goldfinch with its stripes of red and yellow which presumably inspired its beautiful Irish name which means forest flame.
 
Each piece is made on cotton that is printed with my design and then stitched by machine and by hand. A layer of wadding is added to create a relief effect after stitching.
